To Whom It May Concern,

One day in 2001 we saw a beautiful house under construction in our neighborhood and we immediately looked into buying it ourselves. We had to sell the house we'd been in for over 20 years first and by the time we did, the house we loved had been sold. However, we got to meet the builder, Gus Pounds and told him we wanted him to build one for us. Although he was developing a subdivision and was very busy, he showed us several lots in our desired neighborhood and the one he liked best was the one we chose. He broke ground in September of 2002 and we moved in on December 16.

The entire process was not only painless, it was fun! Gus’s attention to detail and willingness to tweak the design to accommodate our tastes was part of what made the experience so special. When something didn’t go exactly right - and when there is so much going on and so many sub-contractors involved, there will be an occasional issue, but Gus and his team were always quick to make everything right. Seven years later, we love this house as much as the day we moved in.

To Whom It May Concern,

Gus Pounds finished with the construction of my home in 2000. I love my home and am more than pleased with the construction of the house and how everything has held up these past 10 years. I was Introduced to Gus by a Realtor that was helping me look for land. After meeting Gus I found out that he had built a lot of homes in other neighborhoods in my area. I immediately liked him and was thankful and appreciative for the advice and guidance he gave in helping us select the land we ultimately bought in 1998.

Since that time, 1998, Gus and I have kept in touch. He invited me and my husband to his home Christmas parties. He stays in touch with all of his clients and they ultimately become his friends. That was the case for Gus and my family. My husband passed in 2003 and Gus and his wife attended his wake. This shows you how much Gus really cares about the people he meets.

Since that time I have needed some handy man work done around house (e.g. outside lights bulbs replaced, screen doors changed out, my house painted etc.) and Gus has sent his crews over to do the work. The work has been done in a professional, timely, cost efficient way.

I cannot tell you how much I value Gus’ professionalism, but I mostly I value his heart.

To whom it may concern,

Gus Pounds built my family's house in 1982, and we are still delighted with it. Six or eight years ago, we were surprised one Sunday to discover that our house was pictured on the front page of the real estate section of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Gus helped us decide on the plan, constructed it masterfully and, after all these years, it remains beautiful home and continues to satisfy our needs. I very much recommend Gus as a builder.

To Whom It May Concern:

I write this letter to give enthusiastic and unqualified recommendation of the services of Mr. Gus Pounds, who, with his company High Mark Homes (now renamed Gus Pounds Homes) renovated our home from March 9 to July 20, 2009.

My wife and I moved into our small two-bedroom home in Decatur, Georgia in 2001. Our House was built in 1947 and we did only minor maintenance before the birth of our two children led us to look into renovations. Through the high recommendations of a friend we met Mr. Pounds. His good spirit, his professional and helpful approach, and his absolute reliability made the process of renovation satisfying and enjoyable, even for us who hadn’t the slightest idea of what was involved in the process before we began.

Through working with Mr. Pounds and his team, we now have a lovely and flawless second story (having “popped the top” to add a master BR with walk-in closet, full bath. guest BR/office [with built-in bookshelves], media room, and laundry) and an extended kitchen space (five-foot bump out, including hand-built cabinetry), with completely refinished floors and new paint throughout.

Mr. Pounds has a close-knit team that works on all the crucial aspects of a building project. Mr. Pounds managed everything from delivery of materials to meeting city inspectors. In addition, as the job progressed, Gus was there to make prudent recommendations on needed deep maintenance to our house, such that I am now completely confident, not only of the new addition, but of every system in the house.

Gus Pounds is a man of his word, skillful, professional, and knowledgeable. You will not be sorry if you work with him as your master contractor. I give him my highest recommendation.

We loved having Gus Pounds do our renovation and highly recommend him to others. Gus gave 100 percent to our project and treated our home like it was his own. He always had our best interest in mind and worked hard to give us the most bang for the buck. We love our renovation and feel like the workmanship is excellent quality. We would definitely use Gus Pounds Homes again in the future.

"You won’t find a more honest and ethical person in the business, Gus keeps his promises and over delivers. He will go above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction and that every detail is accounted for. We would let him build our next home as well…the best in the business."
